Welcome to the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)
The Parent Involvement Committee is parent-led committee and an important advisory body. It provides a direct link for parents to the director of education and the board of trustees. Along with School Councils, the Parent Involvement Committee encourages parent involvement at all levels.
The Parent Involvement Committee mandate is to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement at the board level in order to improve student achievement and well-being, by:
1. providing information and advice on parent engagement to the board;
2. communicating with and supporting School Councils; and
3. undertaking activities to help parents support their children’s learning at home and at school.
We look forward to working with School Councils to enhance communication and look at different ways that parents can be involved their child’s school community. We also want to be involved with making all School Councils a success.
The Parent Involvement Committee meets at minimum of four times a year. All meetings are open to the public, and interested parents and School Council members are invited to attend. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in October each year. At this meeting, selection of parent representatives on the PIC takes place. Please see the meeting dates and agendas posted on this site for more information, and watch for notice about the upcoming AGM in September!
If we can help answer questions, provide resources or if you would like a PIC member to attend a School Council meeting, please feel free to contact me or any other member of Parent Involvement Committee.
